According to statistics last year, housing costs averaged CZK 5,706 per month per family, which is approximately 15.9% of total income. However, more than 40% of their net income is spent on housing, including electricity, by 10% of families.

Given the faster growth of incomes, the share of housing expenditure in general has gradually decreased over the last five years. Housing costs for homeowners amounted to 11.7% of net income and for homeowners – 14.7%, leased – 30%.

According to the Czech Statistical Office, in 2018, 9.6% of Czechs had revenues below 60% of the average income in the whole country. For one person, this limit was CZK 11,963 last year, which is CZK 768 more than in 2017. For two adults, the limit is CZK 17,944, for one parent with a child under 13 – CZK 15,552. For two adults with children under the age of 13, this limit is CZK 25,122.

However, the poverty rate in the Czech Republic remains relatively low, as in France, Finland, Norway and Slovakia.

The average net income per person in the Czech Republic is CZK 182,400 per year.
